Therapy for Adults

Admitting there is a problem is never easy. You have already taken the biggest step by deciding to seek help. While some people view asking for help as a weakness, I know from experience that it is one of our greatest strengths to admit that we don’t have all the answers. Everyone can benefit from the experiences of someone else, learning to see things through a different lens, and having a compassionate person to discuss life with. You’ve already achieved the most important step, which is acknowledging that there is a problem or situation that you would like to improve. Working with a therapist can help individuals to improve their self esteem, improve their relationships, achieve their goals, and improve their overall life satisfaction. Working together we can formulate the tools you need to break unhealthy patterns and improve every aspect of your life.

Psychotherapy will not look the same for everyone. We may spend time discussing your childhood or upbringing to get to the origins of issues and heal old wounds. Or we may focus more on current maladaptive actions or thought patterns. In some cases, therapy may be brief and you may only need a few sessions. In other cases, it might be longer term. What is consistent is that you will have a place where you can focus 100% on yourself, with a caring and non-judgmental person. If you are unsure whether therapy is for you, we can schedule a consultation to discuss your concerns and ensure that we are a good fit. A good relationship with an empathic therapist can be a powerful and healing experience

Counseling for Children and Teens

Is your child struggling at school? Having issues at home? Feeling anxious or depressed? Counseling could be helpful for them. It is normal and common for children to have difficulty talking to their parents about their lives, and they may be embarrassed to talk with you about issues they are having. A caring, non-judgemental third party can help them to navigate the challenges and relationships in their lives. My goal when working with your child is to get them back to an emotionally stable and happy place.

Your child or teen will often not just “get better” on their own. The sooner your child gets help, the better their chance at success. Some of the most common reasons children and teenagers might need clinical intervention include:

  • Acting Out at home or at school
  • Alcohol or drug use
  • Anxiety
  • Cutting/Self harm
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Failing grades
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Trouble or difficulty in School
